Photo quality and how it will affect your painting, pop art or print
It is important to send us the best quality photo you can. If we can't see it then we can't paint or pop art it! We hope the following pointers will help:
Is the photo in focus? (Even slight blurring can make it difficult to see details needed for a painting or pop art).
If the photo is for a painting can you see the colour of the eyes? (Eyes convey so much and without detail a portrait can lack character)
Is the subject big enough in the photo to make out detail? A good rule of thumb for portraits is that the subject should fill at least half of a standard photo and you should be able to make out clearly individual eyelashes
If you are still unsure if your photo can be used why not send it to us and we will be able to tell you straightaway.
Digital images
With the rapid advances in digital cameras and their use becoming more and more widespread you can send us a digital file by email. This is the quickest way for us to receive your photos. Again the same rules apply for digital images as those listed above. Always send the biggest size image you can and make sure it is saved as a '.jpg' file. If the saved file is over 1mb in size then it is probably good enough quality.

Canvas printing
A great photo for printing directly onto canvas is one which is large! The bigger and more detailed the sharper your image will be as we enlarge and print it onto canvas. When you send us a photo for canvas printing we will advise you of the maximum size we would recommend for a print.
Perfect Photo Examples

This photo has both good clear lighting and strong detail when you zoom in making it perfect for any of our art products.

These are the perfect kinds of photo. Great detailing for painting and pop art canvases.
Ok Photo Examples

This photo looks perfect from a distance but when you zoom in you can see that the detailing on the face is just a little fuzzy. These kinds of images work ok for portrait painting, really well for comic Pop Art styles but the extreme contrasts and shadowing (on the right hand side of the face) can sometimes make it difficult for a Warhol Pop Art.

Poor Photo Examples

This photo is both too dark and taken at too much of a distance for us to be able to pick out enough detail to produce an artwork from.

While this photo looks lovely it is just too small. When you enlarge it you can see how fuzzy it is with no crisp detail at all.

Camera phones are great for quick snaps and great fun but the quality of image they take is rarely if ever good enough to paint, print or Pop Art.
