Canvas Print FAQs

What is a canvas print

Our canvas prints take your photos and print them directly onto artist grade cotton canvas using the latest large format printers. The ink penetrates into the canvas so that the texture of the canvas is still visible. We then laminate the canvas with a very thin protective layer that seals in the colours and provides a professional, sharp finish. Finally the canvas is carefully wrapped around a 2 inch thick wooden stretcher frame ready for hanging directly on your wall.

Does my image wrap around the sides of the canvas ("gallery wrap")?

As standard we do not "gallery wrap" our photo canvases. This means that we will crop your photo to fit exactly on the front of the canvas and the sides will be left crisp white. We do this as often photos can loose some important parts to the side of the frame, for example if you have taken a photo with someone close to the edge of the image half of them may wrap arond the side of the canvas! You can though request for your image to be "gallery wrapped" and we will be happy to advise you on the best way forward.

Do the canvas prints come framed

Our canvases don't come framed in the classic sense of the word but as they are wrapped around a deep 2 inch thick stretcher frame they look fantastic hung directly on the wall.

How long does a canvas print last

We only use Epson Ultrachrome inks for our canvas prints which are lightfast (don't fade) for up to 65 years. Our lamination process also helps protect the canvas surface and we are so confident with our prints that we guarantee print quality for 80 years!

How are the canvas prints packaged and sent

All our canvases are currently sent via Business Post. Each canvas is bubble wrapped before several layers of cardboard are fixed aroud it. This provides a sturdy and safe packaging to ensure that your canvas arrives with you in perfect condition.

What is the cost/time of delivery

Standard delivery to mainland UK costs £9.99 for all reasonable sized canvases up to 40inches in size and takes 1 day from the point of dispatch. There may be a small surcharge (£6) for extra large/heavy canvases but we will let you know of any additional costs right from the start. If you would like delivery to outside of mainland UK please contact us for a quote.

How quickly can I get my canvas print

Our canvas prints will generally be dispatched 3-7 working days from when you ordered. If you have a specific deadline that you need the canvas for then please let us know when you order and we will do our best to schedule the canvas production.

What inks and printing technique do you use for your canvas prints

We mainly use large format Epson prints and Epson Ultracrome inks for the best quality in print and in colouring.

What kind of photos work best for a canvas print

Any kind of image can look great printed but the golden rule is to ensure that it is a large sized image. Camera phone images and webcam images are 99% of the time too small/low resolution to make for good canvas prints.

Can photos be edited and cropped to my needs

Yes. We provide a free service for general editing of your photos. We can easily remove red eye, blemishes or even slightly alter the background. If there is extensive editing required of the photo we will charge a small fee for the service but again we will agree this with you before starting work.

Can you print any image I send you even if I didn't take the photo

We can only print images that you own the copyright to or have taken yourself.

Will I see a proof of my image before it goes to print

Yes. If you choose the image proof option when ordering we will always provide a digital proof for you of how your image looks cropped and coloured to your specifications before you have to pay for your canvas. Normally we will send you back this example proof within 24hrs of your enquiry (Mon-Fri)

How are the canvas prints stretched

All our canvases are hand stretched around 2 inch deep kiln dried wood stretchers. These stretchers are hand made by our professional carpenters and the canvas is stapled to the rear of the frame so that no blemishes are visible on the front or sides of the artwork. we then tape the back of the frame so that the canvas can hang flush to your wall for the best possible finish.

What payment methods do you accept
