Andy Warhol Portraits

About Andy Warhol's Artwork

Andy Warhol was born in Pittsburgh USA and during the 60's produced some of his most iconic and well known paintings and prints.

Fascinated with Popular Culture (The "Pop" in Pop Art"), mass production and America's consumerism Andy Warhol along with the other pioneer's of Pop Art help shape a revolution in art and a new approach to portraiture.

It is difficult for any site to offer "Warhol Style" designs as his technique and the exact outcome of each of his portraits over the years differed. What was important to him was the love of the subject matter. Warhol loved painting celebrities because he liked celebrities. He also liked Campbell’s soup and his portrait of "Campbell’s condensed soup" will be forever linked with him. He made these everyday images different, bright and appealing. Very rarely is one of his portraits not flattering and we aim to achieve the same with our designs.

Our Warhol Canvases

Large, detailed photos work really well and you can choose from our two styles of Andy Warhol Portraits. The first uses a strong 2 tone colouring to define the face and features which gives fantastic contrast and very bright colouring when printed. The second style creates a halftone pattern from the face and features which retains a strong photographic feel to the canvas when printed.

4 Panel Pop Art Portrait Once you have chosen your preferred Warhol Style you can then decide on what configuration you would like for your canvas. Warhol set up "The Factory" at the start of his solo art career in which he directed his assistants in formalising the artistic process. He wanted to remove the hand of the artist from the procedure as much as possible and used silk screen printing as a way to replicate the same image with slight variation. We don't use silk screens for our Andy Warhol Portraits but we do think that some of the best designs are achieved when a single image is repeated in several panels. We can repeat your design in 2,3,4,6 or 9 panels, each with different background colourings just let us know how you would like your design when you order.

It is not just people who can benefit from our Warhol Portrait style as pets look fantastic too. Cats, dogs, horses, rabbits and even fish have all been immortalised on canvas. These make for great gifts and are perfect when the recipient may not been too keen to have a photo of themselves on their wall. If in any doubt we recommend that you just send us a selection of photos and we will be able to advise you on which would make for the best design.
